EHR-Gen Open Framework is a generator of electronic medical record systems based on openEHR standard and dynamic technologies like Grails Framework and the Groovy language.
The tool provides a generic and standard based framework that aims to provide system interoperability with any external system (pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, administrative, etc).
Another differentiator is the incorporation of clinical knowledge management through the use of openEHR archetypes to specify the content of the clinical records. See more about archetypes in the clinical knowledge manager: http://www.openehr.org/knowledge . The benefits of this approach is that the software development process is independent of the specification process of clinical content. This makes the medical record system more adaptable, and enables complete control of clinical content by the clinicians themselves.
