eHealth Africa was founded in 2009 with a simple idea: that communities in developing countries could have better healthcare when providers are able to make data-driven decisions.
eHealth Africa’s mission is to build stronger health systems through the design and implementation of data-driven solutions that respond to local needs and provide underserved communities with tools to lead healthier lives.

Symeda

The symeda GmbH is in charge of the SORMAS development since 2016, where we took over from a closed source prototype and created a new open source version based on modern web and mobile technologies. We are in constant exchange with the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig, as well as with the users of SORMAS in Nigeria, to always control the development process in a way that allows us to quickly react to new challenges and changed requirements in the field.

The network has since 1994 been involved in many countries in the "Global South", and at the global level is coordinated by the Global Infrastructures Research Group at Department of Informatics, University of Oslo.

The purpose of Jembi is to provide an organizational home and umbrella coordinating mechanism for related projects in Africa involving health informatics capacity development and health information systems development, implementation and support. Jembi is the organizational home of the Open Architectures, Standards and Information Systems (OASIS) Phase II project.

Health Information Systems Programme (HISP) aims to support the improvement of health care systems in the southern hemisphere by increasing the capacity of health care workers to make decisions based on accurate information. HISP provides training and support for users of the open source District Health Information System (DHIS) software, which is under continuous development. The project started in post-apartheid South Africa, and has been introduced in a number of countries in Africa and Asia. It is part of the BEANISH initiative to improve health information in Africa.
