NHS Hack Days are weekend events that brings together doctors, nurses, developers, designers, and other "geeks who love the NHS" to create disruptive solutions to problems in the health space. NHS Hack Days are ongoing and enjoy the support of prominent international health care and technology leaders.
Aim
To enable a diverse community of researchers and practitioners to rigorously investigate the technology, work practices, development processes, community dynamics within free, libre and open source software (OSS) systems, complementing appropriately other IFIP Working Groups where OSS is increasingly relevant.
Medical Open Source Software Council (MOSS) have organized seminars to promote open source software in medical fields in Japan.
The "Open Source software usage by European Public Administrations (OSEPA)" Project comes under INTERREG IVC Programme which aims, by means of interregional cooperation, to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies and contribute to economic modernisation and increased competitiveness of Europe. The INTERREG IVC Programme is part of the European Territorial Cooperation Objective of the Structural Fund policies for the period 2007-2013 and it is financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Main objectives:
The mission of the OS-WG is to act as the primary conduit between the broader open source community and AMIA. To provide information regarding open source benefits and pitfalls to other AMIA working groups, identify useful open source projects, assist with project community building, and to identify funding sources and provide grant application support to open source projects.
IMIA OS WG has been formed in 2002 with the objective to focus on educational, promotional and 'evangelistic' activities to raise awareness of open source software in health care. The primary objectives of the IMIA OS WG are to:
The European Federation for Medical Informatics Libre/Free Open Source Software Working Group (EFMI LIFOSS WG) aims to promote:
1. evaluation of free/libre and open source materials and approaches
2. exploration and development of open standards
3. use of free/libre and open source systems, and knowledge transfer about these systems
4. a European focus, including activities aimed at, but not exclusive to, the European Union
