OpenVista is an Open Source electronic health record (EHR) based on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' VistA system. OpenVista supports the clinical and nutritional services workflows of acute and ambulatory care facilities through seven foundational applications: the Clinical Information System (CIS); the Health Information Management System (HIMS); Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, and Nutrition and Food Service applications; and the OpenVista Interface Suite.

VTKEdge

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.7 (7 votes)

VTKEdge is no longer under active development, as its functionality has been incorporated into the Visualization Toolkit (VTK). The VTKEdge project created a library of advanced visualization and data processing techniques that complemented VTK. The custom modules to enable the use of these techniques within ParaView have also been incorporated into VTK.

Visualization Toolkit (VTK)

Your rating: None Average: 2.3 (6 votes)

The Visualization Toolkit (VTK) is an open-source, freely available software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing, and visualization. It consists of a C++ class library and several interpreted interface layers including Tcl/Tk, Java, and Python. VTK supports a wide variety of visualization algorithms including scalar, vector, tensor, texture, and volumetric methods, as well as advanced modeling techniques such as implicit modeling, polygon reduction, mesh smoothing, cutting, contouring, and Delaunay triangulation.

3D Slicer

Your rating: None Average: 2.6 (34 votes)

3D Slicer is an open source software platform for medical image informatics, image processing, and three-dimensional visualization. Built over two decades through support from the National Institutes of Health and a worldwide developer community, Slicer brings free, powerful cross-platform processing tools to physicians, researchers, and the general public.

openCDMS

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 3.1 (25 votes)

The openCDMS project is a community effort to develop a robust, commercial-grade, full-featured and open source clinical data management system for studies and trials. The philosophy behind openCDMS is to enable clinical researchers to manage the full life cycle of their clinical research project, from design through to archiving, without any specialist knowledge of databases or IT systems.

openCDMS provides purpose built visual tools the enable clinical researchers to design, develop, implement, and manage large scale, multi-centre studies and trials quickly and easily.

SimThyr

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 4.8 (13 votes)

SimThyr is a simulation program for thyroid homeostasis. It is based on a published nonlinear parametric isomorphic model of thyrotropic feedback control. Applications of SimThyr cover generation of hypotheses for biomedical research, education and presentation. Binaries and sourcecode are available for Mac OS, Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and other Unix derivatives.

SPINA Thyr

Rating:
Your rating: None Average: 5 (14 votes)

SPINA (structure parameter inference approach) is a method for calculating constant structure parameters of endocrine feedback control systems in vivo from hormone levels obtained from serum or plasma.

A first successful implementation applies to evaluation of thyroid function. It allows for calculating the thyroid's maximum secretory capacity (GT or SPINA-GT) and the sum activity of peripheral 5'-deiodinases (GD or SPINA-GD) from levels of TSH, (F)T4 and (F)T3 that have been determined once only (SPINA Thyr).
